It was announced today in a press release that Hanauma Bay voted Best Beach by Dr. Beach and Hanauma Bay State Park is #1 for 2016 in the 26th annual “Top 10 Beach” list by coastal expert Dr. Stephan Leatherman, professor at Florida International University.
Hanauma Bay is located 10 miles from Waikiki on the south shore of the island of Oahu, has a stunning white Coral Beach that has provided tourists and locals with some of the best snorkeling on the island of Oahu. Hanauma Bay was the first non-smoking beach in the state of Hawaii and Dr. Beach now gives extra credit when evaluating beaches that prohibit smoking. As Leatherman notes one of the best ways to get to Hanauma Bay is by taking the Waikiki Shuttles, due to the limited parking at Hanauma Bay.
Hanauma Bay Hawaii is one of the most popular and most visited beaches outside of Waikiki and the North Shore beaches. Over 300 different Hawaiian fish species lurking about the shallow coral reefs, it is easy to see why this Oahu Beach was voted #1.
