Hanauma Bay Visitor Information

General Admission

  • Open: Wednesdays through Sundays
    • Closed every Monday & Tuesday
  • Entry Hours: 6:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
    • No entry allowed after 1:30 p.m.
  • Exit Requirements:
    • Leave parking lot before 4:00 p.m.
    • Beach cleared at 3:00 p.m.
    • All visitors off the beach by 3:30 p.m

Entry for Hawai‘i Residents

  • No Reservation Needed: Hawai‘i residents with valid photo ID
  • With Non-Hawai‘i Residents: Must obtain a reservation or walk-in ticket for non-Hawai‘i residents

Reservation and Ticketing

  • Online Reservations:
    • If you plan on driving out to the Hanauma Bay 48hr reservations are required
    • Visit Parks & Recreations website for “Drive Out” or “Self Drive” tickets
    • Available 2 days in advance starting at 7:00 a.m. HST
    • High demand; may sell out within 15 minutes
  • Waikiki Transportation Package – Starting at $44

    • Advanced reservations are NOT REQUIRED with this tour – Guaranteed Entry

Military Admission

  • Free Admission: Active Duty U.S. Military and Dependents (13 years and older) with valid ID
    • Required IDs:
      • CAC Card for current U.S. Active Duty military members
      • Identification and Privilege Card for dependents
  • Children: No charge for children 12 years and younger

Hawai‘i Resident Admission

  • IDs Accepted:
    • Current Hawai‘i Driver’s License
    • Current Hawai‘i State ID (valid for one year or more)
    • Current Hawai‘i School Student ID (with year/semester validation)
  • No Work IDs Accepted

Payment Information

  • Accepted Cards: Visa, Mastercard, JCB
  • Service Fee: 2.35% on transaction amount
  • No Refunds: All sales final; no cancellations or date/time changes

Parking Information

  • Availability: First come, first serve
  • Fee:
    • $3.00 for Non-Hawai‘i Residents
    • $1.00 for operators with valid Hawai‘i ID
  • Payment: Cash only; no In and Out privileges
  • Refund: Provided if exit within 15 minutes with receipt

Admission Guidelines

  • Orientation Video: Mandatory for all visitors
  • Identification:
    • Present ID along with confirmation ticket at the admission window
    • No photos or copies of ID accepted
  • Arrival:
    • Be in line 15 minutes before admission time
    • Entrance gate at the top of the hill on Kalaniana‘ole Highway
    • Admission window at the bottom of the hill outside Hanauma Bay Education Center
    • Arrive early to find parking and walk to the admission window
